The free event is Oct. 24 at 7:30 at West Linn High School

Adults are invited to a free special presentation about substance abuse and abuse with youth on Oct. 24 from 7:30 to 9 p.m. in the West Linn High School auditorium. The event is presented by the West Linn Community Task Force.

Community members will learn about the effects of drugs on adolescents, current laws and consequences that can affect juveniles, approaches to talking to your teen about the risks of drug abuse, how to recognize and address issues and how to intervene early to prevent further problems. A question-and-answer session will immediately follow the presentation.

Doctor Andrew Mendenhall from Healthworks Northwest, Clackamas County Deputy District Attorney Bill Stewart, Donnie Wright from Wright Counseling and Mike Francis from the West Linn Police Department will speak. A special presentation about peer-to-peer outreach will be provided by student leaders from West Linn High School and the Teen Advisory Board.For more information, visit
