The Lake Oswego Adult Community Center mysteriously lost Internet and telephone service early this week.

The culprit: Squirrels.

Squirrels chewed through a fiberoptic cable ensuring the ACC can communicate with the outside world, according to the city. The outage was discovered CITY OF LAKE OSWEGO - Dents and a gaping hole show where squirrels gnawed on a cable, cutting phone and Internet service at the Lake Oswego Adult Community Center early this week.

As a result, the center was taking phone messages from patrons and returning them throughout the day on Monday and Tuesday, officials said. They hoped to have service restored by Wednesday.

In the meantime, the center remained open with the usual classes being offered. And phone company workers worked to install a new “armored jacket” around the repaired line so squirrels won’t be able to come back for seconds.
