by: DAVID F. ASHTON - With no victims sticking around to be treated, paramedics can only walk away - leaving the smashed car firmly planted into a utility pole near Woodstock Park.Woodstock neighbors say they’re not surprised to hear cars roaring past their homes along S.E. Steele Street near Woodstock Park, at all hours of the day and night.

So, when they heard what one described as a “very loud thud” coming from the intersection of S.E. 46th Avenue and Steele on October 26, at about 10:15 pm, they initially weren’t surprised.

But when looking outside, they were startled to see “four or five” occupants – including the driver, one post-crash witness said – running from a white four-door sedan, its front end actually wrapped fully around a wooden utility pole.

The car’s airbags deployed as a result of the violent collision, but apparently the car’s occupants were able to run away from the area after the crash.

A woman, initially identified as the car’s driver, did return to the scene and spoke with investigating police officers. However, the initial police records show no indication of either DWII or an arrest in this case.
