Six people have turned in applications for three open positions and an alternate slot on the Forest Grove School District budget committee.

The full panel will begin meeting March 11, 2013 to work on the 2013-14 operational budget.

Mark Nakajima, a former longtime member of the panel, re-applied for his spot as a committee alternate, which expired June 30.

Other applicants include Daniel Steele, an electrician with three children attending school in the district; Douglas Timmons, pastor of the Forest Grove Assembly of God church; Gary Myers, an online private school administrator with two children in Forest Grove schools; Lonnie Winkler, a field operations manager with one child enrolled in the district; and Quentin Crain, a software engineer with three children attending school in Forest Grove.

The committee is a 10-member advisory group consisting of five school board members and five appointed citizen members. It makes budgetary recommendations to the Forest Grove School Board.

Board members are expected to decide who will fill the slots at their Dec. 10 meeting.
