Williams does great work at Community Center

I don't usually take to recognizing people in writing, but Kelly Williams has again impressed me with her kind, thoughtful and professional conduct at the Community Center.

She is always going the extra mile beyond what the center requires. I am very proud to bring people to the center, as it is always clean and inviting. She has a well chosen staff as well.

Kelly is a get it done gal with a can do attitude.

Community's help appreciated

I wish to thank the community for helping neighbors in need through the Adopt A Family Program. The program provides for basic needs for families living in Estacada, Eagle Creek or Colton for Christmas.

A family that receives food at the Estacada Food Bank applies at the library to receive basic help (warm clothes, blankets, shoes, etc.) for the holidays. Then families, friends, churches or businesses come forward to "adopt" a family.

This year, gifts for 129 families were distributed at the Estacada Community Center. Some families had between six and 11 people in them, and may not have had a special Christmas without this help.

Thank you all who stepped forward to help with adopting families, shopping for families, helping when gifts are received or distributed, keeping records and many other tasks.

A very special thank you goes out to the Food Bank for their cooperation, the Estacada Public Library for giving us a space to take applications, and the Estacada Community Center (thank you Kelly and staff) for allowing us to do the gift distribution there.

This program is not done alone and requires many hands. Thanks to Adopt A Family Committee members: Jane Reid, Mary Ann Bungi, Sue Campbell, Glenna Goos, Cheryl Alexander, Jane Troeh and Olga Dongvillo. Helpers and shoppers include Kathy Dawson, Janet and Tia Powers, the Timberlake Job Corps, Grier Cundill, Jackie Najera, Cliff Hellard and others.

Other special angels who deserve many thanks include Figaro's Pizza, which gave 3 days of pizza to our volunteers, among other gifts; the awesome Chinooks for Creating Change students from Clackamas River Elementary School and PTA who recently donated $1,745.83 to our program; Don and Sherry Schefcick who donated many collectable dolls to the program, and the junior high dad who took on another whole family to adopt the night before they were slated to pick up gifts. Bless you all.

And for those I have not mentioned, your gifts or service were so very much appreciated. If you would like to help with the Adopt A Family program in the future, please call Janet at 503-630-7433.

Holiday blessings to you all.

Janet Kiger-Hellard, Estacada
