Jefferson County Middle School students and staff will present the musical melodrama "Spook," written and directed by music teacher Jacqueline Koga, at 7 p.m., Thursday, May 1, at the middle school. Tickets are $1 per person.
"This plot has everything," Koga said, noting besides a ghost, it includes a lost gold mine, the disappearance of a person, cowboys, show girls, and a mean hotel owner.
There is also plenty of singing and dancing by seventh and eighth-grade students, which includes a Can-Can number.
The cast has two JCMS teachers, Ms. Raymond as Violenta Spookater, and Mr. Whitcomb as Hamdsome Malone, and the rest of the characters are played by students.
Kathaleen Green as Grubby, Sarah Sperry as Daisy, Dalton James as Santano Slick, Hillma Samayoa as Eva, Ashli Pete as Diva, Nick Hamilton in a dual role as Washington and Sidewinder, Giovanni Ramsey as Shotgun, Sulaiman Jahaiger as Taffyman, Sharlene Hensley as Kitty, Kayleen Urbach as Rose, and Joe Young as the Spook.
