Bargain Hunters, with unique gifts and more, was opened Nov. 29, in downtown Madras by Sue Atkins and Ron Kellim.
The owners have been self-employed in several different businesses over the past 25 years. Originally from the Oregon City area, they relocated to Madras this year.
"We opened a similar store in John Day in 2005 and the local people are always telling us how much they appreciate the good buys they get," Atkins said.
Bargain Hunters sells new and preowned tools, musical instruments, knives, DVDs and CDs, home electronics, video games, and jewelry at below wholesale prices. You'll have to browse the shop to find other items that come in periodically, including saddles, art pieces and antique furniture.
The store offers customers lay-aways for a 20 percent downpayment, with full payment in 30 to 60 days.
"We operate a clean and upscale store. You will find us fair and honest and we guarantee what we sell," Kellim said.
Bargain Hunters is located at 175 S.E. Fifth St., Madras, (former Satterlee's shop), and is open from 10 a.m. to 5 :30 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday.
