ras fastpitch softball evened its record at 1-1 with a 10-0 win against LaPine on Wednesday.
The victory followed a 9-1 loss to now-6A Hood River, last season's unbeaten Intermountain Conference champions on Tuesday, March 13.
The White Buffalos jumped ahead quickly in the victory, shortened to five innings by the eight-run mercy rule.
Shirelle Adams led the offense with three hits including a home run. She also drove in four runs. Holly Martin added an inside-the-park homer.
That was more than enough for pitchers Sarah Leutwiler and Marisa Hulsey. The duo allowed just two hits.
Errors hampered Madras in its opener. Hood River scored three unearned runs in the fifth for a 4-0 lead.
Madras continues its nonleague season by hosting Henley in a noon Saturday doubleheader and Ashland in an 11 a.m. Tuesday twin bill.
