A goodbye for music teacher George Klos

by: Photo By Holly Gill - Retiring music teacher George Klos was honored at an assembly at Madras Elementary last week.

Students and faculty at Madras Elementary honored music instructor George Klos on April 19, for his 30-year teaching career.
   At an assembly, two former students of Klos, who now both teach at Madras Elementary, Ardis Smith and Erin Potampa, presented him with a book created by every class in the school.
   The pages told how much students will miss Klos and one recounted the "Songs we will remember forever."
   Klos two years in Washington before coming to the 509-J District to teach music at Warm Springs Elementary in 1977. He taught at that school for 14 years, then transferred to Madras Elementary, where he has taught music for 16 years.
   For the past two years, Klos has also taught choir and other vocal students at Madras High School, in addition to being the music director for high school plays.
