Almost a year ago, Gresham redevelopment commissioners approved a $10,000 storefront-improvement matching grant for Rockwood Solid Waste, 2550 N.W. Burnside Court.
But the company consulted with an architect and opted to make more extensive improvements than originally planned - new windows, new front door, improved entrance canopy, exterior paint, new sign with lighting, plus a stone veneer on the sign base and building.
So on Oct. 18, commissioners agreed to boost the grant to $14,667 - half of the final $29,334 bill.
The program provides $5,000 to $20,000 in matching grants to businesses making eligible improvements to exteriors of qualifying buildings facing major thoroughfares in the Rockwood-West Gresham Urban Renewal Area.
