Football: The Hawks will host Sheridan in a West Valley League game

TUALATIN - The Horizon Christian High School football team is just one win away.

And the Hawks can get that win Friday night.

Horizon Christian can punch its Class 3A state playoff ticket if it can score a win over Sheridan in a West Valley League game slated to start at 7 p.m. Friday at Horizon Christian High School.

The top three teams from the West Valley League team at the end of the regular season advance to play in the Class 3A state playoffs.

Horizon Christian, at 3-1 in WVL play (5-2 overall), currently sits alone in second place in the league standings below first-place Dayton (5-0, 8-0).

Willamina is in third place in league play at 3-2 and Gervais is in fourth place at 2-2, with two weeks left in the season.

Gervais and Willamina face off on Friday in a league game scheduled to start at 7 p.m. at Gervais High School. If Horizon Christian wins its game Friday, then the loser of Friday's game at Gervais won't be able to catch the Hawks, meaning Horizon Christian will clinch a state playoff berth.

The Hawks will finish their regular-season slate Nov. 4 with a 7 p.m. game at Amity.

The Class 3A state playoffs are slated to begin on Nov. 11.
