Willow Creek Fall Crawl invites hikers, runners
- Madras Pioneer - News
> The Mountain View Hospital Foundation Community Health Improvement Partnership has announced the Willow Creek Fall Canyon Crawl to be held on Saturday, Oct. 27.
The event is a project in partnership with the Friends of the Willow Creek civic group, which promotes the preservation and development of the historic trail system in Madras.
This physically active event will feature a seven-mile hike and canyon survey from Madras to Pelton Park. Participants will meet in Madras at the Public Works Department parking lot and continue on the Willow Creek Trail through the canyon.
The hike will end with a lunch provided by Roxie's Cafe and a bus ride back to Madras.
The Canyon Crawl fee is $15, which includes lunch and the bus ride back to the starting point. There will be three separate groups to meet all participants' abilities.
"Runners and Gunners" will depart at 10 a.m., "Power Walkers" will depart at 10:30 a.m., and "History Buffs and Bird Watchers" will depart at 11 a.m.
Lunch options include hamburger and fries, black bean burger and fries, goblin stew, grilled chicken salad or beer-battered fish and chips.
Participants are encouraged to dress in layers and to wear sturdy hiking boots. There are no facilities on the trail, so participants should also bring an ample supply of water.
Cameras are also recommended to help document the trail and bridge status. All ages are welcome to attend, however a parent or guardian must register for any individual under the age of 18.
Since seating is limited, registration is encouraged as soon as possible. Registration deadline is Wednesday, Oct. 24. Register online at www.mvhd.org. For questions or for more information, contact Beth Ann Beamer at 541-460-4023.
