A free "Film School" will be offered on Jan. 9 and 19, at the Jefferson County Library Annex, by Central Oregon Showcase.
Bring your ideas, scripts, film footage and learn more about moviemaking.
The presentations will include filmmaking advice from winners of last year's Central Oregon Film Festival, including Sam Gilbertson of Culver, winner of the 10-14 age division, and Sid Widmer, winner of the adult division.
A selection of top winning entries from last year's festival will also be shown.
On Wednesday, Jan. 9, from 6-7:30 p.m., at the library's Rodriguez Annex, a session on film scripting will be presented, along with talks by the festival winners.
On Saturday, Jan. 19, from 4-6 p.m., reserve space for an editing work session using the computerized "MS Movie-Maker" film editing program. Call 541-475-3351 to reserve a spot. Bring your video clips and a flash drive, or purchase a flash drive at the session for $8.
If more people are interested than there are computers available, the session will be split into two one-hour sessions, or an additional work session will be scheduled later in January.
The library now has MS Movie Maker on their regular computers, so patrons can work on short film projects during regular business hours.
Everyone is also invited to enter a one- to 15-minute film in the 2013 Central Oregon Film Festival. The deadline to enter is Feb. 28.
