A Portland man who went missing Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 16, on Larch Mountain in Corbett has been found.

Jason Rizos, 35, disappeared while mushroom picking with a friend, leading search and rescue personnel to conduct an overnight search for him. Rizos walked out of the forest at 9:30 a.m. Thursday.

Rizos told police that he got disoriented while walking in the forest and couldn't find his way back to the car. Once it got dark he kept walking all night to stay warm. He stopped once but was too cold to stay in one place as it both rained and hailed at times overnight.

Rizos was evaluated for mild exposure. He was cold, tired and had some cramping in his legs from walking all night. He also bruised his legs running into branches during the night and had a sore knee.

Multnomah County's Search and Rescue team, assisted by K-9 detection and Pacific Northwest Search and Rescue, searched the area for Rizos after his friend told police of his disappearance. Temperatures were in the mid- to high 30s overnight.

The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office advised people to always bring basic survival equipment when going into the forest in case of an emergency.
