Barlow choir to perform holiday show Dec. 5

The Barlow High School Choir will perform several pieces, including nine movements from Benjamin Britten's 'A Ceremony Of Carols,' at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5, in East County Church of Christ, 24375 S.E. Stark St.

Amber Schroeder will direct, and Michaela Stevens will play harp.

Suggested donation is $10 at the door, and refreshments will be on sale.

Latino parents meeting Nov. 30 at middle school

The Latino Parent Leadership Group will present 'Closing the Achievement Gap Through Parent Involvement' from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, at Reynolds Middle School, 1200 N.E. 201st Ave. Fairview.

The goal of this free event is to empower Latino parents and to encourage and support their involvement in the decision making process of the Reynolds School District.

The Latino Parent Leadership Group has been organizing within the Reynolds School District for the past year to address a few of its concerns: 'the lack of resources, the need for cultural competency among faculty and staff, as well as overall retention of Latino students.'

Gresham High to host swing dance Dec. 10

Gresham High School, 1200 N. Main Ave., will host a Holiday Swing Dance for the public from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, in the cafeteria.

The school's Jazz Band will provide music, and the first hour will be a swing dance lesson. Proceeds from the dance and a bake sale will benefit the band's travel fund.

Cost is $5 per person, $4 for seniors.

Hula schoolbenefit Dec. 8 at Burgerville

'Ka Pa Hula Makani Kolonahe (Hula of Gentle Winds),' the hula school of the Makani Foundation, invites the public to enjoy Hawaiian hospitality at Burgerville Restaurant, 2975 N.E. Hogan Road, from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8.

A portion of the proceeds of food purchases made during this time will benefit the foundation, which provides education and Hawaiian cultural opportunities for the community.

Scrooge Lives craft sale set for Nov. 30, Dec. 1

The Scrooge Lives Holiday Craft Sale will take place from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, at Mt. Hood Community College's College Center, 26000 S.E. Stark St.

Parking permits are required and may be purchased for $3 at ticket kiosks located by the flagpoles and gym.
