3A BASKETBALL - Returning players give Corbett hope for a solid season

The Corbett boys basketball team enters this season carrying 12 seniors on their 13-man roster. It is a very unusual situation but one that offers tremendous up side. That much experience can create enormous opportunity.

'We know that this is a unique opportunity,' coach Jeff Smith says. 'The guys want to take advantage and go as far as we can go.'

Last season, Corbett reached the Lewis and Clark League playoffs but fell to Catlin Gabel, who they beat twice during the regular season. This season, the Cardinals feel their age will allow them to make a longer postseason run.

Corbett is off to a 4-1 start but despite cruising through its early-season games, Smith knows that once they reach their league schedule, every game will be a battle.

Look for the full 3A preview, including the Corbett girls team, in the Wednesday, Dec. 14, edition of The Outlook.
