Bank of Oswego appreciated
To the Editor:
The Bank of Oswego has the well-earned reputation of being a stellar member of both our business and volunteer community. They are to be commended for the time and effort their staff and management expend outside of banking hours on supporting the Lakewood Center for the Arts.
The Lakewood Center Associates, a volunteer group of more than 150 members who promote the theater and arts through the Lakewood Center, was the recipient of the generosity of the Bank of Oswego. Dan Heine, president; Diana Yates, executive vice president and chief financial officer; and Bridget Ohl Smith, director of marketing and public relations, hosted an elegant holiday party for the Associates at their Lake View Village location and also presented them with a substantial check.
Thank you to the Bank of Oswego and your wonderful staff. Wishing you all a happy holiday season.
President, Lakewood Center Associates
Holiday Strings Concert Dec. 23
To the Editor:
Come and celebrate the holidays with music to stir your soul on Dec. 23 at 4 p.m. at the Tualatin Heritage Center, 8700 S.W. Sweek Drive, Tualatin. The concert will be led by Rodel Flores, a professional violinist and orchestra conductor. Titled 'Holiday Strings,' this concert is comprised of Rodel's students of all levels who wish to share the gift of music.
As a parent of one of these students, I revel in what I see and hear as my daughter works with Rodel. There is a air of professionalism, yes, but the fact that he truly molds his teaching to each student is evident. Often my daughter exits her weekly lessons wondering how the time flew by so quickly with a smile on her face because the process involved much laughter and fun.
Rodel is an accomplished conductor and violist who has made it his life's mission to elevate the level of string and chamber music education and performance. Among his many accolades here in the states and in his home of the Philippines, he is always willing to give back. This concert is one of the many ways in which he does so: Providing an outlet for the students to share their growing gifts to the community around him.
A model resident of change right here in our community sharing his vision, Rodel is accepting new students as well as orchestra streaming opportunities. There is no charge for this event but donations for scholarships are greatly appreciated. For more information, please go to http://violinistrodelflores.com .
