Thursday, at about 10:27 a.m., Crook County Fire and Rescue, Crook County Search and Rescue, and the Crook County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a medical call at Twin Pillars Trail Head, off Forest Service Road 33, near Wildcat Campground.
The patient, Julie Packard age 48, was reported to have fallen and broke her leg. She had been hiking with relatives and was approximately 4.5 miles from the trail head when she fell. Due to the remoteness of the area, Life Flight was activated and responded. Deputies, fire personnel and SAR members were able to hike in and make contact with Packard at 1:41 p.m. Packard was then extracted out to the trail head and Life Flight transported her to Pioneer Memorial Hospital.
