>Crook County wins 5-3 in close match
The Crook County High School Cowgirls tennis team defeated Pendleton 5-3 on the road on Friday to pick up an important league win.
"For a road trip, the kids did good," said Head Coach Lloyd Rodgers. "It's good to get a win on the road because it is so hard in tennis to get road wins. Your legs are just terrible when you have to get out and play the same day."
Tessa Romine won the No. 1 singles match for the Cowgirls, defeating Shasta Vogler 3-6, 6-1, 6-4. Crook County also got wins from No. 2 singles Erin Crofcheck and No. 4 singles Cecile Suhr, who won their matches 6-3, 5-7, 6-2, and 6-2, 6-4 respectively.
In doubles play, the Cowgirls got wins from their No. 1 and 2 doubles teams with Krissi Kemper and Katie Leavitt winning 6-3, 6-0, while Maggie Trinchieri and Cassie Low won their match 6-1, 4-6, 6-1.
"Crofcheck pulled off another big one," said Rodgers. "And Cecile Suhr is playing extremely well."
The Cowgirls have a busy week ahead as they play Bend at home today beginning at 4 p.m. then travel to The Dalles on Thursday and finish out the week with a match against Mountain View at home on Friday.
