Hermiston, Pendleton prove to be too much for Cowboys

Team hopes to rebound against Mountain View today
Despite a valiant effort, the Crook County Cowboys tennis team could not hold off Hermiston and Pendleton on Friday.
"We did OK," Cowboys Head Coach Sue Boyle said of the effort against Hermiston. "They're very good. Lex (Romine) had a good match against Darren (Ramicharan). They have good depth."

In singles action, Romine lost to Ramicharan 6-1, 6-3. Riccardo Bohle lost to Jacob Crowther 6-0, 6-0. Fellow Cowboy John Morgan lost to Wyatt Harris 6-1, 6-4, and Jorge Toledo lost to Brandon Horn 6-1, 6-2.
As for doubles play, Paul Robideau and Zac Thompson lost to Derek Harmon and Kenneth Gregory 6-1, 6-4. Mike Bates and Joe Oehlschlaeger lost to Nick Bell and Levi Smith 6-0, 6-2. Alex Finnerin and Jeff Robideau lost to Ian McMichael and Brock Burns 6-1, 6-0.
Pendleton, 6, Crook County, 2
In singles play, Romine defeated Shann West 6-4, 4-6, 6-3. Bohle went on to win against Grant Zimmerman 4-6, 6-2, 7-5. Morgan lost to Tom Kamnodsri 7-5, 4-6, 6-4. Fellow Cowboy Tom Leavitt lost to Bryan Carter 6-7, 6-3, 6-2.
In doubles scores, Paul Robideau and Thompson lost to Matt Peterson and Jared Britton 6-1, 7-6. Bates and Toledo lost to Eric Caswell and Adam Stubblefield 6-1, 3-6, 6-4. Finnerin and Jeff Robideau lost to Logan Harden and Josh McClintock 6-3, 6-0.
"We did well," Boyle said. "We were so close on so many matches."
Today, Tuesday, Crook County hosts Mountain View, and the matches get under way at 4 p.m. They then host Bend on May 1. On May 3, the Cowboys play at The Dalles-Wahtonka.
"We're working more with doubles strategies, (and) working more on singles drills," Boyle said. "And consistency. Get the ball over the net and into the court. Count to three kids."
She said it's pretty basic, but she wants a volley of at least three times.
