>Mitchell boys get their first win of season with a 66-44 victory over Monument/Dayville
he Mitchell Loggers boys basketball team won their first game of the season on Tuesday, Dec. 18, as they defeated a team from Monument/Dayville 66-44.
"Our boys are really starting to show team work, passing the ball and supporting each other," said team captain Alex Raber.
Pedro Motta and Neeko Rachor combined for 45 of the Loggers 66 points, and Raber added 11. The Loggers are now 5-1 on the season and don't play again until a Jan. 4, matchup at Adrian.
Mitchell's league season had started slowly with losses at Spray and Prairie City over the weekend. The Loggers fell to Spray on Friday, Dec. 14, 90-29 then lost to Prairie City on Saturday 79-22.
"We played against very good basketball teams over the weekend," said Raber. "We didn't compete well against Prairie City. I think our boys team was tired from playing a tough game the night before against Spray."
