isty Ellen Brindle Steck, 91, of Prineville, died Thursday, May 17 at her home
   Christy was born the daughter of Addison and Elizabeth (Robertson) Anderson on Nov. 9, 1909 in Boville, Idaho. The family moved from Idaho to Oregon in 1918. They lived in Goshen and settled in Springfield. She was a 1927 graduate of Springfield High School.
   In 1930 in Portland she was married to Robert Brindle, they lived in Portland until 1972 when Mr. Bridle died in March of 1972. In June of 1972 a friend brought her to Prineville on an Audubon bird trip. It was on that trip that she met Fay Steck. They were married on Dec. 4, 1973. Fay preceded her in death in 1983 in Prineville.
   They lived in Portland for a short time before moving to Prineville to fulfill a lifelong dream of living by the water having a home along the Ochoco Lake.
   She was a member of the Prineville Camera Club, Lookout Mountain Grange, The High Desert Museum, Central Oregon Audubon Society, High Desert Native Plant Chapter, the Prineville Orchid Society, the Portland Audubon Society, and the Forest Grove Camera Society.
   She was an instructor of the Birds and Wildflowers for the Portland Community College and gave many nature programs for schools, children's groups and garden clubs. She continued her nature classes for the Central Oregon Community College. She helped catalog wildflowers for the High Desert Museum and helped the U.S. Forest Service identifying plant species.
   She entered many of her photographs in the Crook County Fair and won many awards.

   Sister, Elizabeth Ferguson, Portland, Ore.
   Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 22, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Prineville Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Juniper Haven Cemetery. Pastor Willard Fenderson will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of the Prineville Funeral Home.
