the editor: On Wednesday, Oct. 17, the Crook County Court will be discussing a garbage franchise concept. Last month without public notice, they almost gave the franchise to Bob Breck of Powell Butte Disposal. For twenty-five years, Prineville Disposal, owned by Gary and Sally Goodman has served the city of Prineville customers and outlying areas. They have asked for a county franchise in the past and been denied. They worked with a mediator with Mr. Breck. He chose to walk away from that process and go directly to the court. The Goodmans have been tremendous supporters in the Prineville community, including service on the Chamber Board, Cemetery Board, and Hospital Board. In addition, they have provided the 4th of July fireworks display the last three years and the great marching band for the Crooked River Roundup parade. We need that enthusiasm in our community! If you feel as strongly as we do about supporting Gary and Sally, let Mike McCabe, Jerry Crafton and Scott Cooper know. Or attend the court meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 17 at city hall at 11 a.m. Linda and John Shelk Nancy and Chuck Cruckshank Mary Thurman Donna and Mike Mohan Linda and Gary Danner Prineville
