Trojans tie game in third quarter before Rams pull away

The Trojans rallied from a 12-0 first quarter deficit against No. 4 Regis to tie the game in the third quarter before the Rams pulled away for a 33-25 victory.

Noah Giberson completed 13 of 27 passes for 212 yards and three touchdowns, including a 74-yard pass to?Blake Traeger at the end of the second quarter to put Kennedy on the board.

Giberson and Traeger connected again in the third quarter to tie the game, but Regis countered with back-to-back touchdowns to take a 26-12 lead with 10 minutes left in the game.

Ty Sawyer pulled the Trojans within a touchdown when he scored on a two-yard run with three minutes left, but the Rams once again struck back, this time on a 48-yard touchdown return on the ensuing kickoff.

Sam Moreno took a two-yard pass from Giberson in the closing minute of the game to make it 33-25. The Trojans were unable to recover the kick and Regis won the conference opener for both teams.

Kennedy (1-3) plays at Toledo Friday.
