The Aurora Rural Fire Protection District is seeking to renew its current emergency services levy at 49 cents per $1,000 assessed property value on the Nov. 5 election. The current levy, which expires June 30, 2015, would be replaced with another five-year levy at the same rate, according to the Marion County Voter Pamphlet.

“The most important thing is that the district renews this, so that we can maintain our operations,” said Rod Yoder, chief of the Aurora Fire District. “It will be the exact same levy as we had previously.”

Levy funds are used to continue the career staffing at the current level of four full-time firefighting positions, six resident volunteers and approximately 40 nonresident volunteers, Yoder said. Levy funds also are used for supplies, equipment and repairs.
