Aurora girl shares her $8,000 4-H sale with Make-A-Wish Oregon

Olivia Palacios, a 12-year-old Aurora girl, donated more than $8,000 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation last SUBMITTED PHOTO - Olivia Palacios and her brother, Josh, at Make-A-Wish Oregon to donate her funds.

Palacios’ inspiration to raise the funds was her own brother, Josh, who has cystic fibrosis. Josh, 15, received a Make-A-Wish in February to meet the designers of his favorite video game. The entire family flew to Los Angeles and spent two days at the gaming facility.

Olivia, a seventh-grader at North Marion Middle School, raised the money by selling her 4-H lamb, aptly named Wish.

She has been a member of the 3 Rivers 4-H Club for five years and has been showing sheep three years.

She keeps five sheep on the Aurora area farm of her parents, Ignacio and Michelle Palacios.

Normally, her proceeds from a market lamb would go toward another lamb and her college education. But for her this time, Make-A-Wish was the best investment.

Because of her donation, Make-A-Wish Oregon will be able to grant a wish to another child battling life-threatening medical conditions.
