Julius and Florence Mohr celebrate 70 years of marriage Nov. SUBMITTED - Pictured are Julius and Florence Mohr in 1943, the year they got married. The Woodburn couple is celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary this month.

Julius Mohr and Florence Willig married at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mount Angel on Nov. 7, 1943.

Julius is a World War II veteran who served in the U.S. Army as an infantry parachutist with the 188th Regiment, 11th Division, 8th Army’s Airborne Division in New Guinea, Souther Philippines and Luzon. He was awarded a Silver Star, two Bronze Service Stars and numerous other prestigious medals in recognition of his service.

He is now retired from Albany Willamette Industries (formerly Western Kraft) aper Mill in Albany.

Florence is retired from Walker’s Nursery in Albany.

They have one son, Steven, who lives in Beaverton, and five grandchildren.
