by: JEFF MCDONALD - Crews install a new digital sign last week at McDonalds restaurant near the Woodburn Interchange Project on Highway 214.Woodburn's first McDonald's restaurant has a new sign. The sign, which cost $80,000, is the first of its kind in the state of Oregon, said Mindy Mayer, franchise owner.

With the sign, McDonald’s will be able to broadcast specials and messages from a computer, said Mayer, who bought the Woodburn restaurant in 1990 and owns and operates 13 McDonald’s restaurants in the region.

Mayer plans to rebuild the restaurant in the next year or two as the Woodburn Interchange Project construction continues.
