Contract negotiations between the Portland Public Schools and the Portland Association of Teacher went through Monday night and continued early Tuesday morning.

No agreement was reached, by Christine Miles, a spokesperson for the disrtict said, "Any time both sides are still talking in negotiations it's good news."

If an agreement on a new contract is not rached by wednesday, all PPS schools will let out two-and-a-half hours early. Teachers are still to strike Thursday if no agreement is reached by then.

Schools will reopen next Tuesday with substitute teachers if there is still no contract by then.
