Police have ruled the suspicious death of a 27-year-old woman in Fairview a suicide.

The ruling came after an autopsy was completed Friday morning by the state medical examiner’s office, said Sgt. John Pemberton, public information officer for the Fairview Police.

Authorities have not released the woman’s name until family can be notified.

The woman was found shot to death Thursday evening, May 15, at a home in the 21400 block of Fairview Lake Way.

Police responded to the home at 5:17 p.m. on reports of a shooting.

According to Shannon Hord, records specialist at the Fairview Police Department, the woman did not live at the residence.

Following the gunfire, a man ran out of the house and was tackled by neighbors, who held the man down until officers arrived and took him to the police station for questioning.

The man was later identified as the victim’s boyfriend.

Hord said neither the woman nor the man lived at the home where the woman’s body was found. However, they knew the owner of the house.

Investigators ruled the death a suicide following the autopsy.
