Laker tennis teams both get by Grant, eye league titles

Lake Oswego's boys and girls tennis teams each picked up victories over Grant on Tuesday.
The Lake Oswego girls have been scrambling to make up matches due to bad weather but, when they've been able to get on the court, they've played very well.
Lake Oswego knocked off Grant 6-2, sweeping the doubles matches in the victory.
The Lakers dominated in doubles winning each match in straight sets.
Kate Wardrop and Abby Meier won 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1 doubles to set the tone for the Lakers.
Jane Zahniser and Yasmine Genena won 6-3, 6-3 at No. 2 doubles.
In singles, Blair Dozois won in straight sets at No. 2 as did Claire Murphy 6-4, 6-4 at No. 3.
The closest match of the day was at No. 4 singles where Sydney Paine lost the first set but rallied to win the second. She would eventually lose in a tough third set 6-3.
The Lake Oswego boys rolled to an 8-0 win over Grant and continue to keep themselves in the running for a league title.
Only one match went to three sets.
At No. 2 doubles, Jack Smith and Andrew Tymchenko won 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 to help the Lakers to the sweep.
The Lakers were very solid in singles. Scott Goldner and David Furman breezed to wins at No. 1 and No. 2 singles while Avinash Sankar and Scott Kreager each won in straight sets as well.
In doubles, the No. 1 team of Reid Martin and Jack Mertens earned a hard-fought win 7-5, 6-4 while the team's No. 3 and 4 doubles teams won easily.
Austin Winter and Mark Engelberg won 6-2, 6-1 and Alex Gatter and Brian Knees won 6-0, 6-0.
Lake Oswego's boys and girls teams are each scheduled to play Lakeridge this Thursday.
