Swimming: The Lady Bowmen move to 7-0 in league meets with win over Century

The Sherwood High School girls swim team wrapped up the Northwest Oregon Conference dual meet title.

And the Lady Bowmen got their title-clinching win in dominating fashion.

The Sherwood girls, in their final regular season dual meet of the season, rolled to a 128-45 win over Century in a league meet held last Thursday at the Hillsboro Aquatic Center.

With the victory, the Lady Bowmen finished the league dual meet season with a perfect 7-0 record. Century fell to 1-5 in league meets with the setback.

The Sherwood girls, at last Thursday's meet, had first-place finishes in 10 of the 11 races.

Shannon Bradley and Casey Pollock each had a pair of individual wins. Bradley triumphed in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2 minutes, 6.50 seconds and she had a winning time of 1:17.24 in the 100 breaststroke.

Pollock swam to victory in the 100 butterfly in 1:05.50 and she won the 200 individual medley with a mark of 2:26.60.

Elizabeth Bushnell sprinted to victory in the 50 freestyle in 27.60, Mollie Norby had a winning time of 58.05 in the 100 freestyle and Angel Woodard won the 100 backstroke in 1:10.0.

The Sherwood girls also took first place in all three relay races.

The team of Woodard, Bradley, Pollock and Norby won the 200 medley relay in a time of 2:06.50. The combination of Norby, Susan Folsom, Bradley and Bushnell triumphed in the 200 freestyle relay in 1:51.00 and the team of McKenzie Bradley, Pollock, Bushnell and Woodard had a winning mark of 4:06.06 in the 400 freestyle relay.

The Sherwood boys also triumphed at last week's meet, scoring a 128-32 win over Century. With the win, the Bowmen finished their league dual meet schedule with a 6-1 record. The Sherwood boys had first-place finishes in 10 of the 11 events.

Chance Woodard and Noel Scudder each had a pair of those wins. Woodard won the 200 freestyle in 2:03.40 and he triumphed in the 100 freestyle in 54.25.

Scudder had a winning time of 2:27.30 in the 200 individual medley and he won the 100 breaststroke in 1:12.30.

Jordan Bigam picked up a win in the 50 freestyle in 24.95. Sam McAravey won the 100 butterfly in 1:01.0, Matt Schierholtz won the 500 freestyle in 6:16.33 and Nathan Ranno triumphed in the 100 backstroke in 1:02.24.

The Sherwood boys also won both the 200 freestyle relay and the 400 freestyle relay.

Sherwood will next race at the NWOC district meet, which will be held Feb. 8-9 at the Hillsboro Aquatic Center.
