by: Dick Harris It took about 12 minutes for Portland firefighters to control a blaze that damaged a vacant golf driving range Saturday afternoon on Southeast 82nd Avenue.

A Saturday afternoon fire damaged a vacant golf driving range on Northeast 82nd Avenue.

Portland Fire and Rescue crews were called at about 6:25 p.m. to the driving range near Siskiyou Street. Crews could see flames from the fire several blocks away.

Firefighters had to force a gate open to get to the structure. The fire was confined to the building's south side. It took crews 12 minutes to bring the fire under control.

Fire investigators are trying to determine the fire's cause. There were no estimates of the fire damage.
