The Lake Oswego Asset Builders Coalition - LOABC - presented its 2008 Youth Friendly Business Award to Bellagio's Pizza at the Lake Oswego Chamber of Commerce's annual dinner held March 19 at the Lake Oswego Country Club.

The award was given to Tath Rautio, vice president of operations, who represented Julie Collins, Bellagio's president. The annual award is given in conjunction with the chamber to recognize the Lake Oswego business that best connects with youth in the community.

'Since opening our doors in June of 1996, our mission has been to solidify our position as a leading contributor to the youth in the communities we serve,' said Collins several days following the presentation. 'The foundation for the success of our business is developing strong relationships with local schools as well as youth and community organizations.'

Through their contributions to school activities and clubs, hiring of high school age youth at the 14 locations in Lake Oswego and surrounding areas, and ability to create an atmosphere at their store where youth feel welcome, valued and respected, Bellagio's was selected for the award based on feedback from Lake Oswego's youth.

The Lake Oswego Asset Builders Coalition encourages local businesses to regard local youth as a valued resource in the community through connecting on an individual basis with children and young people when they enter a business.
