GOLF: Vikings land two individuals in the Top 10 to finish in a tie for fourth place

Forest Grove tied Tualatin for fourth place at a Pacific Conference boys golf match Monday at Michelbook Country Club in McMinnville, but the real highlight for the Vikings was landing two individuals in the Top 10.

Junior Luke Peters shot a seven-over 79 in cold, wet conditions to finish sixth, while sophomore Jarek Swanson fired an 82 to finish 10th.

'We've played in extremely difficult conditions this year,' said head coach Ron Romanick. 'It's tough when the weather's like this.'

Forest Grove shot 345 as a team to finish in a tie with Tualatin for fourth place. McMinnville was just three strokes ahead in third.

'We're right there,' Romanick said. 'We just seem to be stuck finishing in that fourth spot. We need a break or two to go our way.'

Forest Grove will host its annual tournament at Tokatee Golf Club this Friday.
