West Linn Equestrians brought home three Individual State Championships and four All Around Championship from the Oregon High School Equestrian Team Championships held in Redmond this past weekend.

Sophomore Annie Sloop, scoring a 73 from both judges on her horse Magic earned the title of Reining State Champion.

With a first go time of 1.93 seconds and second go time of 1.72, Sloop took the Championship in Steer Daubing State Champion on Mr. P. Second place went to Megen Hopper of Redmond running a 2.25 and 2.02. Annie also placed 7th in Working Rancher with Rocky. These high placings in both performance and timed events made Sloop an All Around High Point Versatility Champion.

Emma Stevens, also a sophomore, with a combined score of 339 brought home the OHSET State Dressage Championship. Stevens on her horse Ruby, won Dressage at all three Tri River Valley District Meets this season. Emma also was Reserve Champion in Hunt Seat over Fences this weekend in Redmond. Other placings this weekend for the lions included: Lyndsey Austin 5th in Individual Flag.

Her horse Chrome injured his shoulder in Keyhole and she borrowed a horse from another team for her other events.

In 2010 Austin was the Figure 8 Race State Champion.

Cabernet Burns placed 7th in Hunt Seat over Fences, The In Hand Obstacle Relay Team of Sloop, Nicole Paulson, Mikala Staples and Esther Delavan placed 12th.

Paulson 20th in Trail Equitation, McKenzie Johnson - 22nd in Dressage, Hayley Pak - 24th in Dressage borrowed a horse.

Fourteen of the total 18 West Linn Team members qualified for State. Half of the team's horses and athletes stayed home due to the EHV-1 virus concern.

West Linn High School Equestrian Team is part of the Tri River Valley District of the Oregon High School Equestrian Teams.
