The city of Beaverton will sponsor a free Recycling Day for city residents on Saturday, June 4, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 3950 S.W. Cedar Hills Blvd., the former Westgate Theater site at Rose Biggi Avenue and Millikan Way.

Only residential items will be accepted, and city employees reserve the right to refuse oversized, commercial or contaminated loads.

Accepted items include the following:

  • TV sets, working or not
  • Computers and monitors, including laptops
  • Cell phones and chargers
  • Power supplies
  • Printers, keyboards, mice, copiers, fax machines, PDAs and calculators
  • Metal appliances and scrap metal, but no air conditioners, freezers or propane tanks
  • Batteries
  • Inkjet printer cartridges
  • Fluorescent lights, but no ballasts or thermostats
  • Clean Styrofoam (nonmetal, concrete residue or earth), but no packing peanuts, beverage containers or fast-food containers
  • Plastic bags
  • Media plastics: DVDs, CDs, jewel cases, cassette tapes and cases, videotapes, 8-track tapes
  • Rigid plastics (No. 1, No. 7): no metal or bucket handles.
  • Participants are invited to bring a non-perishable food donation to Beaverton Cares, for Beaverton families and individuals who need help getting through tough times. For information, visit .
