Recently, I announced my candidacy for Lake Oswego City Council. I am excited about this opportunity to serve our entire city and am committed to work hard for you.

Over the last several years, I have been actively involved in many aspects of the Lake Oswego Community, twice elected as the Palisades Neighborhood Association Chair. I have found the work challenging, yet very rewarding.

As chair of the Palisades Neighborhood Association, I worked to reenergize Lake Oswego's largest neighborhood association. Together, we:

n Worked and reached consensus on a 20-year vision for our neighborhood

n Led the effort for the creation of a local park

n Created a sustainability team

n Solved traffic issues and worked towards connecting pathways

n And facilitated the PNA toward a solution and agreement of the Lakeridge Conditional Use Permit.

While many believe that our city faces incredible challenges, I see many opportunities. Our council has made bold choices over the last 10 years, creating beautiful parks and a downtown worth visiting. I will bring to this next council proven leadership, producing results and positive change for our community by:

n Ensuring Lake Oswego's transportation, sewer and water system will be able to handle future demands

n Create an environment where citizens and local leaders foster communication and trust

n Continue the civic improvements that our current and past councils have led that make Lake Oswego the beautiful and vibrant city that we enjoy today.

Resolution to important issues remain, including the sewer interceptor and the West End Building. Our city needs leadership that has a proven record of working collaboratively and respectfully with others. I have and will continue to work to work for the benefit of all community members in a manner that is respectful and collaborative, building trust throughout our community.

Please visit my Web site at, send me your questions, concerns and vision for our beautiful community.

I look forward to working with you.

Sally Moncrieff is a candidate for Lake Oswego City Council.
