by: cathy Siegner No one was injured in a single-alarm fire Thursday afternoon at this Happy Valley home at 13163 SE 137th Drive. Clackamas Fire District #1 crews found a renter with her pit bull/blue heeler cross named "Lucky" safe while they put out the flames in half an hour.

The fire at 13163 SE 137th Drive in Happy Valley apparently started on the main floor and worked its way up to the second story.

Firefighters had to cut holes in the second floor to access the fire, which took about 30 minutes to put out, according to Clackamas Fire Public Information Officer Steve McAdoo.

A woman who wouldn't give her name said she had been renting the house for the past couple of months. She and her pit bull/blue heeler cross named "Lucky" were assisted by Craig and Sherry Bufton of Damascus, who were driving around the area looking for houses for sale and saw the flames.

McAdoo said more firefighters and equipment than usual were on the scene because of the house's proximity to the Clackamas Fire training center at 130th near Highway 212.
