Daimler Trucks North America announced Thursday that it will fill an additional 155 manufacturing positions at its Swan Island truck-making plant between September and the end of the year.

The company, headquartered on Swan Island, also announced it will add a second shift and fill 535 manufacturing positions and 37 other positions by September at its Mt. Holly, N.C., truck plant; add a third shift and 479 manufacturing positions and 32 other positions at its Saltillo, Mexico, truck plant; and 121 manufacturing workers and 3 others at its Gastonia, N.C., parts plant.

Most of the openings will be filled by workers laid off by the company.
