Next: The Timbers are on another extended break from United Soccer Leagues play, but they will play host to Coventry City of England's Championship League at 7 p.m. Saturday.

The Timbers thought they would play at home July 12 in the third round of the U.S. Open Cup, but their match is on the road instead, at the Charleston Battery (4-5-4). The Battery advanced from the second round with a 1-0 victory over the Sonoma County (Calif.) Sol. The Portland-Charleston winner is scheduled to advance to an Aug. 2 game against FC Dallas of Major League Soccer.

Portland will play again at Charlotte in a July 14 league game. The next night, the Timbers will play at Atlanta (4-4-3) before returning home to face Seattle (5-7-4) on July 21 at PGE Park.
