Aloha man dies in head-on collision
Washington County sheriff's deputies are looking for the driver of a 1985 white Chevrolet Impala involved in a Thursday evening collision on Southwest Burkhalter Road that killed an Aloha man.
The head-on collision at about 8:30 p.m. killed Russell Moody Jr., 22. He was a passenger in a 1990 Nissan Sentra driven by 21-year-old Danny Calderon, who was treated at Oregon Health and Science University Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Impala jumped out of his damaged vehicle after the accident and escaped in a small tan pickup, possibly an older Chevy Luv or a Ford Ranger.
The crumpled Impala was left at the accident scene.
Witnesses said the man had dark hair and was probably in his 20s or 30s.
Deputies said the accident happened on Burkhalter Road about a quarter mile west of Rood Bridge Road. Burkhalter Road was closed for several hours as the county's Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team investigated the crash.
Deputies said the suspect was driving west on Burkhalter Road passing another car in the eastbound lane, which is a no-passing zone marked with two solid yellow lines.
As the Impala reached the top of a hill, it slammed head-on into the Nissan.
Anyone with information about the accident is asked to call the sheriff's office, 503-846-2700.
