Myrna Dorene Marone

April 11, 1937 - Feb. 2, 2013

Myrna Dorene Marone died in Milwaukie on Feb. 2, at age 75.

She was born in Twin Valley, Minn., on April 11, 1937, and was raised primarily in Coos Bay; she graduated from Marshfield High School in 1955. 

On July 7, 1957, she and Roger Gene Marone were joined in marriage at a ceremony in Coos Bay. 

She worked in bookkeeping, and was a mother of three.  She enjoyed reading, long walks, Harley-Davidson motorcycles, flowers, cooking, writing recipes and spending time with her family and friends. 

She is survived by: her daughters, Susan Seibold and Ellen Marone of Milwaukie, and Karen Speece of Oregon City; brother, Roger Johnson of Oregon City; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Roger Marone, and by her parents and her brother.

A memorial for Mrs. Marone will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 9, at Faith on Hill Church.

Helen Bertha Schultz

July 16, 1922 - Feb. 25, 2013

Helen Bertha Schultz died on Feb. 25 in Oregon City at the age of 90.

Mrs. Schultz was born on July 16, 1922, in Minot, N.D., to John and Martha (Renz) Schmitz. She graduated from Minot High School in North Dakota. In 1956 she moved to the East Portland/Gresham area. She enjoyed gardening, flower arranging, reading and traveling.

Mrs. Schultz was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church in Gresham since 1975 where she was a member of the Altar Circle and a church greeter. She also was a Lutheran Braille Worker at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Gresham.

She married Helmar E. Schultz on Oct. 28, 1945, in the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Minot, ND. Helmar died in 2000.

Helen is survived by her son, Loren and his wife Kathy Schultz, Harleysville, PA., daughter, Colleen and her husband Gary Brinkert, Oregon City, two brothers, Arthur Schmitz, of Arlington Heights, Ill., Vernon Schmitz, of Gresham, four grandchildren, Karl, Eric, Gretchen, and Lindsay, and one great-grandson, Kyle.

Donations may be given to Ascension Lutheran Church or the Lutheran Hour Ministries.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be on Friday, March 8, at 1 p.m. at Ascension Lutheran Church, 1440 S.E. 182nd Ave., Gresham.

Helen Margaret VanCleave 

July 28, 1915 - Feb. 23, 2013

Helen Margaret VanCleave died on Feb. 23.

She is survived by: her daughter, Eula, and her husband, David Vance; grandson, Steve Killian; granddaughter, Stacie, and husband, Abel Lugo; granddaughter-in-law, Deana Killian; great-grandsons, Shane Killian and Brandon Raab; great-granddaughters, Andrea Killian and Ashley Lugo; great-great-granddaughter, Tinsley Killian; nephew, Ron VanCleave; and nieces, Doyletta Whitaker, Connie Crew and Barbara Holling.

A funeral service was held at Hillside Chapel in Oregon City, on March 1.
