Melville “Mel” Maynard Moffitt Jr.

Feb. 5, 1924 - June 26, 2013

Melville “Mel” Maynard Moffitt Jr. died on June 26; he had been a member of the Oregon City community since 1948.

He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II and will be laid to rest with full military honors.

He is survived by: daughters, Sharon Hegar and Denise Ogle; son, David Moffitt; sisters, Pearl (Art) Smith, Opal (Gordon) Dryer and Verndena Velle.

He was preceded in death by Ruth, his wife of 69 years, and son, Melville J. Moffitt.

A funeral service will be held at Hillside Chapel in Oregon City on Friday, July 5, at noon, to be followed by a graveside service at Willamette National Cemetery at 2 p.m.

Elema Ethelene Plumlee 

May 27, 1940 - June 22, 2013

Elema (Fisher) Plumlee died on June 22, at Providence-Willamette Falls Hospital with her family by her side. 

She was born on May 27, 1940, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Jessie Lee Crane and Estel Oliver Lee Fisher. At the age of 18, she met and married her husband, Roy Charles Plumlee.

She is survived by: daughter, Debby Larsen (Tom); son, Ronald Plumlee (Bonnie), both of Oregon City; grandchildren, Thomas Longwell (Natasha), Michael Plumlee and Sadie Jackson; great-grandchildren, Kylie Slocum, Reilly Stone, Tommy Longwell, Spencer Slocum and Audrie Longwell; brothers, Larry Miller and Tommy Fisher; sisters, Sandi Johnson and Carolyn Mears; uncles, Gene Crane (Francis), Joe Waller and Carl Waller; aunt, Linda Price; numerous nieces and nephews; and her special friends, Donna Mroczek and Ron Instenes.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Plumlee was preceded in death by: her husband, Roy; sisters, Ola Mae Mitchell and Brenda Metcalf; and her nephews, Hank Johnson, Bobby Lee Andrews and Eddie Andrews.

A celebration of life was held on June 27 in Oregon City.
