New Century Players will hold auditions from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Rose Villa Performing Arts Center

Milwaukie-based community theater group New Century Players will hold auditions for a staged reading of "Infinite Black Suitcase" from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on Jan. 8 at the Rose Villa Performing Arts Center, 13505 S.E. River Road, in Oak Grove.

Rehearsals will take place Jan. 22 and 25; performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 26 and 27, and at 2 p.m. Jan. 28.

"Infinite Black Suitcase" is the story of one day in a small Oregon town and three families who are trying, in the most loving and human ways, to deal with death and dying.

The play was written by E. M. Lewis, an award-winning playwright, teacher and librettist. Her work has been produced around the world. She was the recipient of the 2016 Oregon Literary Fellowship in Drama, among other awards.

Ron Palmblad will direct the play.

Nine men, ranging in age from 28 to 70, and seven women, from 24 to 60 years old, are needed for the production.
