2 arrested for allegedly shooting Jahrell Lillard
Police have made two arrests in connection with the shooting of Jahrell Lillard, the half-brother of famed Trail Blazer Damian Lillard.
Police say forensic evidence linked Jeffrey Charles Jessie, 19, and Taivon Campbell, 17, to the shooting in the Clackamas Town Center mall parking lot on Thursday, March 29.
Jessie was arrested shortly after 6 p.m. on Friday, May 4 during a multi-agency raid of his flat at the Riverwalk Apartments, located on Southeast Causey Avenue in unincorporated Clackamas between Milwaukie and Happy Valley.
Jessie is facing three counts of attempted murder, two counts of first-degree assault, two counts of second-degree assault, seven counts of unlawful use of a weapon, and one count each of first-degree attempted assault, second-degree attempted assault and a parole violation, according to a news release.
In an interview with FOX 12, Damian Lillard told the station that his half-brother was shot five times. The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office described the shooting as a "targeted" attack at the time. Jahrell Lillard survived the shooting.
Jessie had a charge of fourth-degree assault dismissed in 2015 as part of a plea deal regarding shoplifting at WinCo, court records indicate. He admitted to throwing a soda can at a loss prevention officer trying to detain one of his friends and picking up a backpack full of stolen merchandise, according to a probable-cause affidavit.
Jessie is currently lodged at Clackamas County Jail. Bail has been set at $820,000.
Court records don't indicate what charges Taivon Campbell faces for the Lillard shooting, but the 17-year-old is also facing an attempted murder charge for allegedly shooting a 16-year-old during an armed robbery over an iPhone.
