PORTLAND — The Portland Waldorf girls basketball team took a big step toward a return to the Valley 10 playoffs with a 59-38 win at Portland Lutheran on Friday night.

The Wolfpack took a 12-6 lead midway through the first period on back-to-back 3s by Anya Conlon and Alma Baker. Waldorf would never trail the rest of the way.

Waldorf extended to a double-digit lead in the second period after Greta Conlon drove down the right side of the lane and tossed in an off-balance layup while falling to the court.

The Wolfpack went into halftime with a 34-22 lead and put the game out of reach shortly after returning to the court. Anya Conlon converted a pair of three-point plays early in the third period to build the gap to more than 20 points.

The win boosts the Wolfpack to 7-5 in the Valley 10, putting them solidly into the fourth place spot heading into the final weeks of the regular season. The top five teams qualify for the league playoffs.
