Area athletes came through big-time at the 2013 Les Schwab Bowl senior all-star football game, played Saturday at Hillsboro Stadium.

Milwaukie’s Kendrick Bourne and Oregon City’s Mitchell Thompson both scored second-half touchdowns, as the North rallied to beat the South 21-14. Clackamas’ Jon Kenion was named the North All-Stars “Lineman of the Game.”

Playing wide receiver, Bourne hauled in a 12-yard pass from Lincoln’s John Williams to put the North up 12-7 in the opening seconds of the fourth quarter. Kenion hauled in a pass from Century quarterback Sam Riddle on the ensuing PAT for a two-point conversion and a 14-7 North advantage.

The South scored and tied things up at 14-14 just a couple of minutes later. But with 9:34 left to play, Thompson skipped into the end zone from a yard out. The PAT kick rang true, and the North had its 21-14 winning advantage.

Bourne was the North’s second-leading receiver, with four catches for 71 yards; Thompson was the North’s second-leading rusher, with 11 carries for 43 yards.

The game featured top graduating senior football players from Oregon 6A and 5A high schools.
