A 1.25-mile “fun run” will be held at Clackamas High School at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 20.

Called the Jake Arntson Memorial Fun Run, proceeds of the event will go to the Clackamas High School Jake Arntson Teammate of the Year Scholarship, and to renovating the baseball field at Oregon Trail Elementary School, where Jake Arntson attended school. The scholarship will benefit a Clackamas high school senior each year who demonstrates the qualities of “best teammate,” showing kindness, enthusiasm and selflessness.

Jake Arntson, the 7-year-old son of Clackamas High coach John Arntson, died in an automobile accident on New Year’s Eve.

The fun run will start on the high school track and will finish on the high school baseball field, after looping around the school grounds. A separate shorter run, for children 6-and-under, will start at 9:30 a.m.

Entry fees are $20 for adults, $10 for kids, or $50 per household.

Registration is online at:

Race participants will be entered in a raffle. There will be an activity area, set up for use by kids, following their run.
