by: SANDRA HUNT - An estimated 60 people, including Estacada Mayor Brent Dodrill, attended the ceremony.Despite the rain, an estimated 60 people gathered Monday, May 27, to pay their respects to American heroes who fought and died for their country.

The Estacada Area Support Our Troops Foundation held the ceremony at the Estacada Veterans Memorial.

As those in attendance listened to the speakers, they stood before 20 white crosses honoring those who were killed or who are missing in action from World War I to the present.

Twenty-nine new veteran’s bricks were added to the “Walls of Honor” this year.

Estacada Veterans Memorial designer and Estacada Area Support Our Troops board member John H. Nieder was one of the featured speakers at the event, along with Mayor Brent Dodrill and foundation President Dennis Dahrens and others.

This year, two new flags were raised: A POW/MIA flag and an Honor and Remember flag were installed in time for Memorial Day.
